Fifteen Years in Fellowship, Anonymous |
|
I was born and raised in the mid-west, in a family of five children. Although my family was church-going all of our lives, I personally did not come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ until my late 20's. It was at that time that a friend of mine introduced me to the Bible as a book that can feed and supply me for all my daily living. We spent many hours together with a few close friends, reading and fellowshipping. The necessity for a job led me to another city a few years later, and away from these friends. It was there in that new city that I found a meeting of Christians who enjoyed the Bible, and enjoyed fellowshipping, singing, eating meals in one another's homes, praying and sharing the gospel with others. They also seemed very much to know the purpose of their human life. They were like me in many ways: holding jobs and taking care of families. They were not immune to the problems and occupations of life, but still they were going on full of purpose all the same. This was the local church in Mansfield. I now meet with the local church in Memphis. I have met with these Christians for 15 years now and have enjoyed their fellowship. Jesus Christ has been the center and content of this fellowship. The ministry of Watchman Nee (1902-1972) and Witness Lee (1906-1997) has directed me into a deeper, fuller, and higher appreciation of the Bible. Through their books I have come a long way in seeing and appreciating God and His purpose revealed in the Bible, which is to come to man and join Himself to man, that God and man may live in a deep, abiding oneness (John 10:10, 1 Corinthians 6:17, John 15:4). The warmth and sincerity of these Christians, their knowledge and absolute allegiance to the Bible, and their zeal for God's purpose have been consistent over the past 15 years that I have met with them. My heart is full of praise to God for having led me to these dear brothers and sisters in Christ. My desire is to go on meeting with them for the rest of my life or until our dear Lord returns. |
